Premium electric car brand Hyper, owned by the Chinese state-owned automaker GAC, presented its third model — a large coupe-shaped crossover HT with wing-type rear doors seagulls. Acceptance of pre-orders has begun.
The Hyper brand is very young; it split this year from the very successful Aion sub-brand, which has been producing mass-produced and relatively affordable electric cars since 2018. Hyper, in turn, will focus on premium electric cars with a sporty character; the Hyper line already includes the all-wheel drive SSR supercar and the rear-wheel drive fastback GT.

A signature feature of the Hyper brand is the doors that rise up: the HT crossover has rear side doors, with the help of an electric drive they soar up to a height of 2.3 m, so that even basketball players do not have to bend down when landing. It’s just that such miracle doors are available only to buyers of the top-end configuration, symbolically named Gullwing; other trim levels have regular hinged rear doors.
Overall length of the Hyper HT is 4935 mm, width is 1920 mm, height is 1700 mm, wheelbase is 2935 mm. The front suspension is double wishbone, the rear is multi-link. There are two trunks: the volume of the main rear trunk is 670 l (with the rear seat backs folded — 1802 l), the volume of the additional front trunk is 55 l. The top version of the Gullwing has three lidars installed in its body, which are necessary for the autopilot to operate. Standard wheels are 19- or 20-inch.

The base version of the Hyper HT has a 400-volt electrical architecture and a single electric motor on the rear axle for maximum output at 180 kW (245 hp) and 335 Nm. The battery capacity is not specified, but a power reserve of 600 km on a single charge is promised according to the CLTC cycle. The basic Hyper HT accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, the maximum speed of all versions is limited to 183 km/h.

Medium and top versions have an 800-volt architecture and a more powerful electric motor producing 250 kW (340 hp) and 430 Nm. The average version reaches the first “hundred” in 5.8 s and can travel 670 km on a single charge; for the Gullwing version, the corresponding figures are 6.2 s and 770 km.

The interior of the Hyper HT from the driver's seat is not much different from the interior of the hyper-platform fastback Hyper GT: a narrow digital instrument panel is located above a flattened steering wheel, like in Peugeot cars, all the main settings, including climate control, are embedded in the central multimedia screen. Standard equipment includes a 960-watt HiFi audio system with 22 speakers, a panoramic glass sunroof with curtain, leather upholstery, a front-passenger sleeper with retractable legrests and rear «king» seats with 173-degree backrest adjustment for the left rear passenger. there is a folding footrest, and the right one has a folding work/dining/changing table.

The pre-sale price of Hyper HT is 220,000 yuan (2.93 million rubles at current exchange rates), but it is not yet clear how much the top version of Gullwing will cost. In the future, Hyper HT and Hyper GT should acquire more powerful and expensive twin-engine modifications.
