The new MPV begins its market career with a seven-seater version. Later, a larger and more expensive six-seater version will go on sale, but the “pumped up” van with a different appearance is just testing the waters.
The serial hybrid minivan of the premium Wey brand, owned by the Great Wall concern, made its public premiere back in the summer : The model was called Alpine, in Chinese its name sounds like Gaoshan. Now sales have started in China, and it turned out that the MPV has several modifications.
So, now customers are offered a standard Wey Alpine with a seven-seater cabin, the seats in which are arranged according to the 2+2+3 pattern. The length of such a minivan is 5045 mm, width – 1960 mm, height – 1900 mm, distance between the axles – 3085 mm. And at the beginning of next year, dealers will have an extended six-seater Wey Alpine Executive, its dimensions are 5405/1960/1890 mm, the wheelbase has been stretched to 3275 mm. The ground clearance is the same for both options — 155 mm.

Externally, the vans differ from each other by the rear bumper; in addition, the Executive version, of course, has an increased glass area behind the rear roof pillars. In the extended version of the cabin there is an optional “star” ceiling, that is, with many built-in diode points. In addition, the Wey Alpine Executive has retractable footrests for both the second and third row seats, and the seats are upholstered in Nappa leather.

As part of the presentation dedicated to the start of sales, they also showed a tuned van with a standard wheelbase — Co-creation Edition. The features of this option are an impressive body kit, an original radiator grille and wheel covers. This minivan has a four-seat interior with a bulkhead, Alcantara and Nappa trim, plus there is gold plating inside. However, Wey has not yet announced whether the Alpine Co-creation Edition will reach dealerships. So let's go back to the production MPV.

The Wey Alpine is a plug-in all-wheel drive hybrid. The DHT-PHEV system includes a 1.5 petrol turbo engine (156 hp), capable of rotating the front wheels or operating as a generator to recharge a battery with a capacity of 37.96 kWh. And an electric motor with a power of 184 hp is installed on the rear axle. The total output of the minivan is 487 hp. and 762 Nm. It is stated that the Wey Alpine will be able to travel up to 140 km on the WLTC cycle only on electric power. The MPV will reach the first “hundred” in 5.7 seconds, the maximum speed is 170 km/h. Note that all of the listed characteristics refer to the “short” van; the company will reveal these Executive versions later.

The seven-seater minivan is available in two trim levels. The cheapest one has LED optics, 18-inch wheels, heated and ventilated seats in the first and second rows, memory settings for the driver's seat, three-zone climate control, a virtual instrument panel and a touchscreen multimedia system placed in a single housing, all-round cameras, adaptive cruise control, auto braking, lane keeping and blind spot monitoring systems. The second version includes a head-up display, an active noise reduction system, a massage function (for the seats of the first and second rows), folding tables, a refrigerator (built into the central tunnel), atmospheric lighting and a car parker (remote parking is also provided).

The brand also announced the list of equipment for the six-seater Alpine Executive, this version additionally includes advanced electrical adjustments for all seats, ventilation and heating of the third row seats, a face and gesture recognition system, a driver fatigue monitoring system and a standard video recorder.
Hybrid Wey Alpine with a standard wheelbase and interior for seven will cost 335,800 or 375,800 yuan, which is equivalent to approximately 4,462,000 or 4,994,000 rubles at the current exchange rate. The price of the extended Alpine Executive is also already known — 405,800 yuan (5,392,000 rubles).
Meanwhile, earlier It was reported that the Great Wall concern is going to introduce the Wey brand to the Russian market. If the information is confirmed, then most likely the premium brand will start with crossovers. However, we shouldn’t rule out the appearance of a Wey Alpine minivan either.
