Renault 5 will not “hook up” Clio: the first image of the new generation hatchback

It is assumed that the “filling” of the next generation five-door will be more electrified; Diesel is also likely to disappear from the lineup.

The French brand has been producing one of its most popular models, the Renault Clio, since 1990. Over the past time, the car has changed generations four times. The current fifth generation five-door appeared in 2019, and it underwent restyling in the spring of 2023. In the entire history of the model, the most successful year for it on the European market was 2002: then dealers were able to sell almost 502 thousand copies.

It was previously assumed that the place of the still popular compact Clio hatchback could be taken by the Renault 5 — a small five-door hatchback with a retro design, which is now just preparing for an official presentation (we previously published a series of spy shots of a prototype that was caught during road tests). The Spanish publication Motor.es believes that the Clio will remain in service even after the “five” enters the market. Note that according to the plan, Renault 5 should debut early next year.

It is assumed that in Renault has already begun developing the next generation Clio. The publication noted that the presentation of the sixth generation Clio will take place in mid-2025, and the new product will probably go on sale in 2026.

There is no official information about what the sixth generation Renault Clio will look like. The Motor.es designer offers his own version of the potential exterior of the new five-door. Judging by the render, the compact five-door may get an appearance in the style of the Renault Scenic crossover that debuted in September.

At the bottom of the front bumper there are “boomerangs” of running lights and a trapezoidal central air intake with a pattern of horizontal stripes.

The sides of the sixth Clio may remain unchanged: the car in the rendering has the same stampings, black exterior mirror housings, traditional front door handles and rear door handles built into the pillars. Judging by the image, the side glass lines may leave a chrome surround. The stern was promised a number of cosmetic changes.

The interior will also receive its share of adjustments that will visually refresh salon. In general, the publication suggests that Renault will borrow from other manufacturers a formula according to which less money is spent on developing new generations of current models with internal combustion engines than on creating completely new all-electric cars.
