Rishi Sunak's phone number has been published online in an unfortunate security breach.
The Prime Minister's personal mobile number has been exposed after pranksters social networks published an audio recording of the phone call and conversation of the Prime Minister. responds to a message on his answering machine, The Sun reports.
A Downing Street spokesman said: “We do not comment on security matters.”
This is the number Mr Sunak has used for years, including as chancellor and during last year's leadership election, the newspaper said.
He is said to have been given a new, separate number, when he took power almost a year ago.
But an online video that surfaced on Sunday appears to show the personal number remains active.
Earlier this month it emerged that Mr Sunak told the UK's Covid-19 inquiry that he had failed to provide WhatsApp. messages sent from this number because he was unable to confirm them and changed phones several times, so “does not have access to them.”
Not the first time
This is not the first time the Prime Minister’s mobile number phone is available on the Internet.
Boris Johnson was advised to stop using his personal phone and no longer access it for security reasons during his time as Prime Minister in May 2021 after it was revealed his number had been freely available online for 15 years.
This led to a lengthy process to retrieve his messages for the Covid-19 investigation, which was reportedly complicated by him having forgotten his password.
This happened after It emerged Mr Sunak had submitted plans to build a fence around his country home following a protest by Greenpeace activists earlier this year.
The application submitted to North Yorkshire Council said the timber fence should «provide a simple visual and discreet physical barrier to prevent intrusion into a residential property».
This followed a Greenpeace protest in August in which activists demonstrated on the roof of the Grade II listed mansion.

Five people were arrested by officers from the North. Yorkshire Police following the protest, which took place while Mr Sunak and his family were on holiday in California.
Planning application, currently awaiting decision, for «timber post and railing fence» 165 feet long and 4 feet tall, was unveiled on October 11.
The document stated that it was «for the purpose of providing a simple visual and modest physical barrier to discourage intrusion into a residential property.»
< p>He added: “The proposal is considered to cause no appreciable harm from a heritage or wider planning perspective and planning permission should be properly granted.”
The application required “ suggest a solution, having regard to the simplicity of the proposals and the circumstances of the site.»
The Mail On Sunday, which first reported the application, said Downing Street had confirmed Mr Sunak would pay for the fence himself.
