BMW X4 «for the poor» from Fiat: now it's an Abarth, although without an increase in power

Fiat presented the “hot” Fastback coupe crossover, developed by the Abarth sports division. The price is known.

Under the Abarth brand, Fiat, part of the auto giant Stellantis, produces “charged” versions of its cars. The first crossover in this “warmed up” line appeared last year, its role was played by the Fiat Pulse Abarth, created on the basis of the “regular” Pulse, mainly addressed to South American countries. It has a close relative that received a coupe-like body – the Fiat Fastback, which initially received a version with the addition “powered by Abarth”. Now the Spanish manufacturer has declassified the “hot” cross-coupe, which was given the name Fastback Abarth.

Fiat Fastback Abarth differs from the “regular” Fastback, including visually. Firstly, this car does not have logos or nameplates indicating that it belongs to Fiat. Thus, on the radiator grille, front fenders, in the center of 18-inch wheels of a different design, as well as on the steering wheel, seats and front panel there is a recognizable Abarth emblem in the form of a scorpion. The same sign adorned the engine cover under the hood, and on the stern there is an inscription in the form of the name of a sports brand.

The “warmed-up” SUV also has a different design for the front and rear bumpers, there are red decorative accents in the form of contrasting stripes, and the frames of the extended wheel arches and the bases of the doors are painted in body color, whereas in the “regular” Fiat Fastback they are made entirely of unpainted plastic. The interior was also decorated with red details, including stitching and carbon-look elements.

Equipment includes LED headlights and taillights, air conditioning, wireless smartphone charging, a seven-inch virtual instrument cluster with Abarth graphics, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. In addition, the crossover was equipped with a complex of ADAS driver assistants.

Typically, Abarth in a model name means a significant increase in power (for example, as is the case with the Pulse Abarth). However, this time the output of the new product is the same as that of the Fiat Fastback powered by Abarth version (and, in fact, the same as that of the “charged” Pulse). Under the hood of the “heated” cross-coupe there is a 1.3-liter turbo engine that produces 180 hp on gasoline. power (on ethanol — 185 hp), and its maximum torque is 270 Nm.

Compared to the “regular” Fastback, the “full-fledged” Abarth version received sporty settings for the suspension, steering and braking system. The crossover is equipped with stiffer and more stable shock absorbers, its ground clearance is 215 mm (5 mm less than that of a standard cross-coupe), the approach angle is 20 degrees, and the departure angle is 23 degrees.

The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. A special feature is the special Poison driving mode, which is activated using the red button located on the steering wheel. The system allows you to drive more confidently at high speeds and provides faster gear changes. The result of all the changes was an improvement in dynamic performance: the Fiat Fastback Abarth accelerates from zero to “hundreds” in 7.6 seconds, while the “regular” Fastback takes 8.1 seconds. The maximum speed is 220 km/h.

In the Brazilian market, the recommended retail price of the Fiat Fastback Abarth is 159,990 reais (equivalent to approximately 3.01 million rubles at the current exchange rate), and for the starting version of the Fiat Fastback is asking for 121,990 reais (about 2.3 million rubles).
