Next generation Skoda Superb station wagon: new images

This week, official sketches of the new generation Czech flagship were published. Thanks to them, we have the opportunity to consider all the features of the car’s appearance.

The Superb model appeared in the modern line of the Czech brand in 2001. It was built on the Volkswagen Group B5 platform, which was also used by the Audi A4 with the factory designation 8D and the fifth generation Volkswagen Passat. Today, the third generation of the car is on the assembly line, which was presented at the beginning of 2015 at a special event in Prague, and in the spring of 2019Superbreceived a light restyling. The premiere of the new generation will take place very soon, and the drawingspublished a few days ago allow us to evaluate the nature of the changes in the appearance of the car.

This summer we made renders liftback, and in many ways our expectations coincide with the car presented in sketches. The station wagon is more interesting, as it will receive an original rear end. It will be built on the basis of the new station wagonVolkswagen Passat, which premiered at the end of the summer. Of course, the Skoda will get a signature front end with a wide polygonal grille and angular headlights, very similar to the current generation Superb. The bumper will be made quite strict, it has a narrow air intake across the entire width and a U-shaped chrome molding. The sides are completely identical to the new Passat, while at the rear there will be angular lights with a dotted line of LED dimensions, which will not be united by a jumper, unlike the same Passat.

The fourth generation Superb will receive a modified MQB platform with the Evo prefix. The length of the station wagon will increase by 40 mm and amount to 4902 mm, the height will reach 1482 mm (+5 mm), while the width of the car will be 15 mm less than the previous generation — 1849 mm. The distance between the axles has not changed and is 2841 mm. The engine range will continue to include gasoline engines (1.5 TSI and 2.0 TSI with 150 or 204/265 hp, respectively) and a 2.0 TDI turbodiesel with 150 or 193 hp. There will also be a rechargeable hybrid iV with a petrol 1.5 TSI with a total power of 204 hp. It is paired with a 6DSG, ​​while the other versions are equipped with a 7-speed robotic gearbox. In addition, the Superb will have a different interior from the Passat, official photos of which have already been published earlier.
