According to preliminary data, two battery options will be available for the “green” four-door. But all-wheel drive is still in question. The model should enter the home market before the end of this year.
Geely published the first official images of the Galaxy E8 sedan in mid-October. And now the brand has held an online display of the new product in China. True, the presentation was mainly devoted to design, but there were also some fresh technical details. Let us remind you that the sedan will become the third and most expensive model of the new Galaxy family, created specifically for electrified cars: the E8 will join the L6 four-door and the L7 crossover. Moreover, if the already sold “six” and “seven” have a hybrid installation, then the “eight” is presented exclusively in the form of an electric car – at least for now.

The flagship sedan “grew” from the Galaxy Light concept, shown at the beginning of the year as part of the announcement of the new series. From the show car, the serial E8 received sophisticated head optics, an aggressive front bumper with additional “broken” running lights and frameless doors with retractable handles. It’s just that the commercial model has doors with classic hinges, while the front doors of the Geely Galaxy Light opened upwards, and the building opened against the direction of travel. But they retained the luminous nose: many diodes are built into the blank front part, the sedan can greet its owner or simply put on a light show.

Geely Galaxy E8 is built on the SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform, while the Galaxy L6 and Galaxy L7 are based on the E-CMA “cart” (a type of CMA, Compact Modular Architecture). The length of the flagship is 5010 mm, width – 1920 mm, height – 1465 mm, distance between the axles – 2925 mm. That is, in terms of its dimensions, the E8 is comparable to the Exeed Sterra ES/Exlantix E03 electric sedan. It was announced that the aerodynamic drag coefficient Cd of the new Geely product is only 0.199.
In the cabin there is a single 45-inch display spanning the entire width of the front panel. The Chinese write that the screen has 8K resolution, anti-glare coating and fingerprint protection. Electronics – with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip. But the steering wheel is not the same as in previous corporate pictures: Geely previously demonstrated the E8 with a steering wheel, but now the car has a two-spoke truncated steering wheel. However, it is quite possible that the first option will be offered as an option. The models are also promised a face recognition system, a head-up display, ventilation and heated seats (the front seats also have speakers built into the headrests).

In the previously leaked certification documents for the Geely Galaxy E8, one electric motor with a power of 272 hp was declared: it is believed that it is located on the rear axle. It is possible that the sedan will subsequently acquire a dual-engine unit, that is, all-wheel drive. According to Chinese specialized media, the E8 will be offered with two battery options to choose from – with a capacity of 62 or 76 kWh. In the first case, the power reserve will be 550 km according to the CLTC cycle, in the second – 665 km.

The Geely Galaxy E8 electric sedan should go on sale before the end of the year. Gili has not yet announced plans to supply Galaxy series models to other countries.
