MOSCOW, June 4 Spanish football club Barcelona started negotiations with Athletic midfielder Nico Williams, whom he considers the main transfer target of the off-season, reports the portal sport.es.
According to the source, Barcelona's sporting director Deco contacted the player's agent, promising to do everything possible to complete the deal. The release clause in Williams' contract, which he signed in December 2023, is between 50 and 60 million euros, but the Catalan team is ready to offer a larger sum in exchange for the possibility of paying for the transfer in installments.
Last season, 21-year-old Williams scored 8 goals and provided 17 assists in 37 matches for Athletic in all competitions. His contract with the club runs until June 2027.
