MOSCOW, June 4 Italian Jannik Sinner beat Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in the quarterfinals of the French Open, which takes place on the clay courts of Paris.
The meeting ended with a score of 6:2, 6:4, 7:6 (7:3) in favor of the second-seeded Italian; Dimitrov had the 10th seed. The tennis players spent 2 hours and 29 minutes on the court.
Sinner is 22 years old and the reigning winner of the Australian Open. For the first time in his career, he reached the semi-finals of Roland Garros, where he will meet the winner of the match between Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas (9th seed) and Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz (3rd).
After updating the ATP ranking on June 10, Sinner will become the first racket of the world. For the first time in history, such an achievement will be achieved by a representative from Italy. This became known after the current tournament winner, Serbian Novak Djokovic, withdrew from the 1/4 finals of the tournament due to injury; he will not be able to defend 2000 ranking points.
