The first Luxeed model was the S7 electric sedan, which debuted last year, and the second will be the S9 coupe crossover, its sales will begin in the second half of the current year year.
The Chinese company Huawei, famous for its consumer electronics, actively entered the auto business at the beginning of this decade — this is part of its large diversification strategy aimed at maintaining stability under US sanctions and creating new growth points. Unlike Xiaomi, which entered the car market under its own brand in March, Huawei adheres to a multi-brand approach and cooperates with several large car manufacturers at once: in 2021, Huawei launched the AITO brand together with Seres, last year the Luxeed brand, created jointly with Chery, appeared, and At the Beijing Auto Show held in April, the premiere of the Stelato brand took place — this is a joint brainchild of Huawei and BAIC.
Huawei also cooperates with other car manufacturers (for example, with Avatr) as a supplier of components, software and operator of various Internet services, but AITO, Luxeed and Stelato stand apart — their work is supervised by the subsidiary HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance), created by Huawei last year, through its website hima.auto in China you can buy/reserve models of all three brands.
The AITO brand is currently on the rise, its sales in China in January-April of this year, according to CAAM, amounted to 107,520 cars (+665.2% compared to the same period last year). Luxeed got off to a good start, selling 9,607 cars over the same period, but the Stelato brand has not yet entered the market.
Today, official photos of the second Luxeed model in camouflage have been published. Chinese media report that it will be called Luxeed S9, but there are some doubts, because the debut model of Stelato is also called S9 — on one site two identical names will look strange, so on the way to the full premiere, the Luxeed S9 may be renamed, but For now we'll call it that. The obvious stylistic similarity of the AITO, Luxeed and Stelato models does not bother anyone — on one site they look quite organic.
The Luxeed S9 is a fairly large (exact dimensions have not yet been revealed) coupe-shaped crossover, built on the same E0X modular platform as the Luxeed S7 sedan. This platform was developed by Chery, it is intended for electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids and has an 800-volt or 400-volt electrical architecture, depending on the specific model and modification. The E0X platform was also used by models of Chery's new Exlantix brand, which will soon enter the Russian market.
The Luxeed S9 is expected to debut as a pure electric car and will have the same powertrains as its sister Luxeed S7 sedan, which comes with a single engine rear-wheel drive (292 hp) and two-engine all-wheel drive (total power — 496 hp). The battery capacity of the sedan is 82 or 100 kWh, the range on one charge is from 585 to 855 km according to the CLTC cycle, depending on the modification. The interior of the crossover has not yet been declassified, but spy shots of it have already appeared on the Internet — everything there is approximately the same as that of the sedan: a flattened steering wheel, minimalist decor and two screens on the front panel.
Tentative the price range for the Luxeed S9 is from 300,000 to 400,000 yuan (from 3.67 million rubles to 4.89 million rubles translated at the current exchange rate), while the Luxeed S7 sedan now costs from 249,800 to 349,800 yuan (from 3 .06 million rubles to 4.28 million rubles).
We add that AITO crossovers have recently been officially sold in Russia, but under the Seres brand.
