The Investigative Committee asks to arrest the defendants in the case of an accident with trams in Kemerovo

KEMEROVO, June 7The Investigative Committee petitions for the arrest of the director and foreman of the Kemerovo Electric Transport Company, who were detained as part of a criminal case regarding an accident involving two trams, reports the press service of the Investigative Committee for the region.
In the morning on Thursday, two trams collided on Logovaya Highway in Kemerovo. According to the latest data, 140 people were injured, including ten children, and one man died. A criminal case was initiated in the regional SUSC under Part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life or health of consumers). The regional prosecutor's office organized its own inspection and took control of the progress of the criminal investigation. Later, the GUMVD for the region reported that a second criminal case had been opened in connection with the accident under Part 3 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Violation of traffic rules and operation of vehicles.”
The director and foreman of the Kemerovo Electric Transport Company were detained on Thursday. On Friday, they were charged with providing services that do not meet security requirements.

“The issue of choosing a preventive measure in the form of imprisonment for the defendants is currently being decided,” the department reports.
