MOSCOW, June 11 World and European champion in the national team Spanish football team Fernando Torres has been appointed head coach of Atletico Madrid's reserve team, according to the official website of the Spanish La Liga club.
Previously, Torres led the Atlético youth team (football players under 19 years old) for three years. Atlético's second team plays in the third strongest Spanish division.
Torres is 40 years old, he began his career at Atlético, and later played for the English Liverpool, Chelsea, and the Italian Milan. In 2015, he returned to the Madrid club, and ended his professional career in the Japanese Sagan Tosu in 2019. The forward won the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup with Chelsea, and the Europa League with Atlético.
Torres played 110 matches for the Spanish national team, scoring 38 goals, including the winning goal in the final of the 2008 European Championship. Torres is also the 2012 European champion and the 2010 world champion.
