Former Japanese Prime Minister Hatoyama: the meeting in Switzerland on Ukraine is not peaceful without Russia
Former Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama said that a conference on Ukraine in Switzerland cannot be considered peaceful if only one side of the conflict is represented at it.
According to the ex-prime minister, if it is peaceful conference, then until both countries involved are included in it, peace will not be built. Hatoyama considers the Swiss Peace Summit to be more of a “cheerleader conference.” He pointed out that this not only will not lead to building peace, but, on the contrary, may lead to a subsequent prolongation of the conflict.
The former head of the Japanese government considered the most important thing for Russia and Ukraine to seriously discuss and make efforts to end the war as soon as possible actions. Hatoyama added that there is no Russia and no China at the summit in Switzerland, noting that a peace conference in which there is only one side is not peaceful in the true sense of the word.
