Lame ducks in a row: of the G7 leaders meeting in Italy, only Giorgia Meloni is not struggling with high disapproval ratings
Rishi Sunak to meet some of the most unpopular world leaders at the G7 summit, but none have as high a disapproval rating as the UK prime minister.
This means Mr Sunak will win at least one competition in this year as he heads towards complete destruction in the July general election.
He will understandably feel jealous when he meets Giorgia Meloni, his owner, who has just scored a landslide triumph in the European elections, boosting her international influence.
Apart from Ms Meloni, who has placed herself at the centre of the European campaign, he will be in depressing company.
He had hoped the G7 would provide much-needed overseas glamor and prestige to distract him from domestic problems.
Instead, Mr Sunak finds , which is lame. leading a parade of lame ducks, including France's Emmanuel Macron.

Ms Le Pen called for an alliance with Ms Meloni, who said she had “common ground” with the far-right leader.
The French president, like Mr. Sunak, has called for a snap election in July that could see him stripped of many of his powers and remain as New Zealand's prime minister.
Like the British prime minister, he faces brutal punishment from their electorate. According to Telegraph calculations, the centrist's net rating (voters who approve minus voters who disapprove) is -31 percent.
Germany's Olaf Scholz arrives after leading his center-left SPD to the worst results in European history. The chancellor was defeated by the center-right CDU and the pro-Putin and extremist Alternative for Germany party, despite that the latter has been embroiled in numerous scandals.

Now Mr Scholz faces calls to topple his unpopular coalition government and call early elections, as Mr Macron and Mr Sunak did.
His disastrous approval rating stands at -51%, but he is still not as bad as Mr Sunak's Mammoth — 54 percent.

The G7 summit will be dominated by negotiations over a plan to use interest on frozen Russian assets to help Ukraine.
Leaders will also call on China to stop helping Russia and criticize Beijing for anti-competitive economic policies.
This is a welcome chance for Mr Sunak to show a little statesmanship. criticism rather than falling prey to it.
EU leaders may also find time on the sidelines to discuss the distribution of the bloc's top jobs after European elections in which the far right made big gains but the pro-EU Center is holding on.
It is in no one's best interest for the assembled leaders to see this summit become a foreign failure exacerbating their domestic problems.
The Sun of Apulia and the company of other world leaders in front of the cameras should bring blessed relief from booing and criticizing the house.
However, for Ms. Meloni this will be another crowning achievement of a week of success.
