The new large SUV is offered as a hybrid or a full-fledged electric car. There is only one configuration so far, and it is quite rich.
The eπ brand (aka Yipai) was created by the Dongfeng concern last year specifically for electrified cars. The first-born was the eπ 007 liftback. The second model was presented in the spring of 2024 at the Beijing Motor Show — this is a large three-row crossover eπ 008. Pre-orders for the SUV began to be accepted immediately after the presentation. Well, now in China they have published a price list and started sales.

The crossover has a streamlined body, narrow headlights and retractable door handles; the rear lights are designed in the form of a single die. In addition, there are two glass sections on the roof, and many LED elements can be built into the smooth “nose” (optional).
The length of eπ 008 is 5002 mm, width – 1972 mm, height – 1732 mm, wheelbase – 3025 mm. Thus, in terms of its dimensions, the SUV is close to the Exeed Sterra ET (in export markets, including Russia, this SUV will be sold under the Exlantix brand). The V8 has 21-inch wheels.
At the moment, the eπ 008 is offered only with a six-seater interior. Inside, there are separate screens for the instrument panel (8.8 inches) and the multimedia system (15.6 inches), a two-spoke steering wheel and a two-story tunnel. There is only one configuration for now. The list of standard equipment includes: leather upholstery, the aforementioned displays, heated and ventilated seats in the first and second rows, wireless charging for a smartphone, a facial recognition system, automatic parking, all-round cameras, adaptive cruise control, automatic braking and lane keeping systems.

The main feature of the interior is available for an additional fee: it is a retractable “stand”. It is hidden under the armrest box, which is located between the front seats. At the top of this “cabinet” there is a drawer for small things, and at the end there is a pull-out compartment with cooling and heating functions. Other options include a massager, a footrest for the right “middle” seat, a folding table (built into the back of the front passenger seat) and a rear entertainment system screen (mounted to the ceiling).

The eπ 008 crossover is presented as a hybrid or a full-fledged electric car. In both cases, a 272-horsepower electric motor (340 Nm) is installed on the rear axle. Under the hood of the hybrid there is a 1.5 petrol turbo engine (147 hp), which operates in generator mode (the “electric” has an additional trunk in front); This modification is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 34.32 kWh. On electric power alone, the hybrid eπ 008 will travel 210 km on the Chinese CLTC cycle, with a total range of 1,300 km. The electric SUV has a battery with a capacity of 82.28 kWh and a promised range of 636 km. By the way, the eπ 007 liftback also has an all-wheel drive option, so later the crossover may also receive a 4WD version.
It is curious that the price is the same for both the hybrid SUV and the electric car: 216,600 yuan, which is equivalent to approximately 2.63 million rubles at the current exchange rate.
Dongfeng Concern plans to supply eπ models for export. So in the future, a large crossover may well reach the Russian market — after all, we have electrified brands Voyah and M-Hero.
