    In Smolensk, a man was detained for breaking a tile in a passage

    YAROSLAVL, June 28 A vandal who broke a tile in an underground passage with a bat was detained in Smolensk, the governor promised inevitable punishment.
    According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Smolensk region, on the morning of June 26, the police were informed of an act of vandalism in an underground passage in Smolensk. Unknown persons deliberately broke 25 porcelain stoneware slabs that lined the walls. The incident caused a great stir. In particular, it outraged the governor and deputies. Secretary of the regional branch of United Russia, Igor Lyakhov, noted that “not just two tiles were broken, but literally the entire crossing was damaged.” According to Lyakhov, “it is difficult to determine what served as the motive for such an act: either alcohol and drug intoxication, or impotent anger that the city is getting better.” The police opened a criminal case for vandalism.

    “The suspect in the act of vandalism in the underground passage on Kolkhoz Square has already been detained. He turned out to be a 22-year-old Smolensk resident who has already confessed to committing illegal actions,” Governor Vasily Anokhin wrote in his Telegram. -channel on Friday.

    According to him, CCTV cameras helped catch the attacker.
    “Everyone who commits such crimes will be found and punished. I thank the police officers for the effectively carried out operational search activities,” the head of the region emphasized.
    The Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Smolensk region noted: the suspect explained that he broke the tile for hooligan reasons. Currently, he is detained in accordance with Article 91 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation, the department notes.

    B local media appeared a video in which the detainee says that he broke the tile with a bat. He claims that he repents and asks for forgiveness from the townspeople. The police clarified that they have nothing to do with this video.

    The Smolensk regional branch of the Popular Front reported in its Telegram channel on Friday that the damage caused by the vandal has already been repaired and the crossing has been repaired.
