HANOI, June 20The most important priority in the development of science for the Russian Federation is concern for people’s health, and concern for the environment is also connected with this, since in the conditions of climate change, the insane exploitation of natural resources is impossible, said Russian President Vladimir Putin.
As part of his visit to Vietnam, Putin met with the leadership of the Vietnamese-Russian Friendship Society and graduates of Russian universities. One of them asked a question about priority areas of development for Russia in the field of science and wished the president good health. 
“At the end of your speech and your question, you wished me health. And for that, thank you very much,” Putin said with a smile, after which the audience applauded.
“”This is one of the most important priorities – human health. Therefore, one of the priorities of our activities in the field of science is precisely the preservation of the population. And this is connected with various areas of scientific research – both theoretical and applied scientific research. This is all that concerns human health, life expectancy, and not just duration, but quality of life,” the president continued.
He noted that today all the most promising discoveries are made at the intersection of sciences, and the development of genetics, biology, and theoretical medicine cannot be imagined without the development of physics, chemistry, and mathematics.
“In order to achieve obvious results in this most important area, in which people’s health and life expectancy are connected, of course, we need to pay attention to taking care of the environment. And this is also one of the areas. Endless exploitation of natural resources, thoughtless exploitation , it is already becoming almost impossible in modern conditions, especially in the context of climate change, but we must approach this carefully, with an understanding of where we are in terms of the development of alternative directions in the energy sector, what our role is, in what historical perspective, what. the role will be given to carbohydrates,” Putin said. -0-
