The model of the French brand, which will receive an all-electric “filling”, will reach dealers in Europe in 2025.
The DS brand is part of the extensive portfolio of the auto giant Stellantis. The current model line includes the DS 3 SUV (there are versions with internal combustion engines, with hybrid and completely “green” technology), the DS 4 hatchback (there are options with internal combustion engines and a hybrid unit), the DS 7 crossover (with diesel and hybrid versions) , as well as the current flagship sedan DS 9 (there are versions with internal combustion engines and rechargeable hybrids). In the near future, the lineup will be replenished with a new product — DS 8.

To date, only the DS 3 E-Tense has a fully electric “filling”, but in the future the situation will change. One of the “green” new products will be the future flagship, which will be given the DS 8 index. It is reported that it will occupy this place temporarily: until the successor to the current DS 9, which did not live up to the manufacturer’s expectations, appears. Thus, according to Jato Dynamics, over the past year Europeans bought only 789 copies (33% less than the year before). By comparison, the DS 3 sold 9,335 units during the same period, down 31%.
So far, there is no official information about the appearance of the DS 8. However, photo spies managed to catch a camouflaged prototype of the new product during tests that it took place on public roads in the southern part of Europe. Colleagues from the Spanish publication Motor.es shared the pictures with us.
The exterior details of the prototype in the photographs are hidden using a thick layer of camouflage film. Judging by the pictures, the model will be a coupe-shaped crossover (or cross-liftback). The future new product received single-story head optics: horizontally elongated, narrow-shaped headlights pass under the edge of the hood. The DS 8 will also apparently have traditional exterior mirrors, retractable door handles, and a shark fin antenna on the roof.
There is currently no official information about the “filling” of DS 8. According to the publication, the model will receive a lithium-ion battery, the useful capacity of which will be equal to 86 kWh. The maximum range is expected to be approximately 700 km (when calculated using the WLTP cycle). According to preliminary data, the V8 will have versions with both a single electric motor and a dual-motor power plant.
It is expected that the presentation of the new product from the French brand will take place before the end of this year, and DS 8 will reach European dealers in the first half of next year. The cost of the future flagship will be known later. Probably, the price tag will be higher than that of the “younger brother” DS 7, which in its home market, France, can now be bought for at least 45,750 euros (equivalent to approximately 4.23 million rubles at the current exchange rate): this is what they ask for the diesel version, and the hybrid version can be purchased for no less than 54,950 euros (about 5.08 million rubles).
Earlier this month, the manufacturer talked about the serial armored crossover DS 7 Vauban. This modification is based on the standard plug-in hybrid version of the model.
