MOSCOW, June 27 The authorities of the Swiss city of Zurich have decided to submit an application to host the Eurovision 2025 song contest, according to a statement published on the city council website.
«The City of Zurich is applying to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. Eurovision will provide Zurich with the opportunity to position itself as an open city of culture and an attractive tourist destination,» the city said in a statement. 
According to the authorities, Zurich is ideal for hosting Eurovision, as it has the necessary transport infrastructure and an appropriate venue for the event.
«Zurich and Eurovision fit together perfectly. Zurich is just as colorful, just as lively, just as diverse. We can and want to implement this big project,» they say message from the words of the mayor of the city, Corine Mauch.
To plan and host Eurovision 2025, the city council will apply for a framework loan of 20 million francs.
Switzerland will host Eurovision 2025 because Swiss singer Nemo won the 2024 competition, held in Malmö, Sweden, with the song The Code. Russia has not participated in the competition since 2022.
