In terms of design, the SUV intended for the Japanese market will generally be no different from other versions. The brand has not yet spoken about the technology.
The compact inexpensive crossover Suzuki Fronx debuted last year in India. Only there is production established; Maruti Suzuki (a subsidiary of the Japanese company) is responsible for production. At the same time, the five-door is a global model: Indian-assembled cars are supplied to the countries of Latin America, Africa and the Middle East. And in the fall, the SUV will also appear in Suzuki’s native Japan – apparently, they will also sell a cross made in India there.

The brand itself has so far published a teaser video and several pictures of the Japanese version. Judging by it, in appearance this Fronx will repeat the five-doors that are available in other markets. Unless the Japanese will be offered a SUV without roof rails (or they will be available for an additional fee).

Let us remind you that Suzuki positions the model as a coupe-shaped SUV. In fact, the Fronx is an “off-road” version of the restyled Baleno hatchback (the original hatch is not sold in Japan). Although in fairness, we note that the company did not limit itself to just hanging unpainted plastic “in a circle”: almost all body panels were replaced, in addition, the SUV received two-story head optics, and the rear lights were designed in the form of a single die. The length of the global Suzuki Fronx is 3995 mm, width – 1765 mm, height – 1550 mm. Wheelbase is the same 2520 mm as that of the donor hatchback.

The interior of the crossover addressed to Japan has not yet been exposed, but inside there should not be any significant differences from other cars. Depending on the market and configuration, the list of equipment may include: a multimedia system with a tablet rising above the front panel, wireless charging for a smartphone, a head-up display, six airbags, all-round cameras and cruise control.

The Suzuki Fronx technology for Japan has not yet been announced. In India, the SUV is equipped with a naturally aspirated 1.2-liter gasoline four-cylinder engine (90 hp) and a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine (100 hp). In other countries, the Fronx is sold with a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter four-cylinder (103 hp), plus in some places it has a starter-generator. But the drive is always exclusively front-wheel drive.
More details about the SUV intended for the Japanese market are promised to be revealed in mid-July. By the way, in India, the Suzuki Fronx has a brother from Toyota — the Urban Cruiser Taisor. This model will be exported later, but there is no information yet on whether the Land of the Rising Sun will be included in the list.
Meanwhile, sales of the budget Honda WR-V crossover started earlier in Japan — it is also supplied from India (in its homeland, the model is called Elevate).
