MOSCOW, July 2 Russian defenseman of the Boston Bruins Nikita Zadorov stated that several other National Hockey League (NHL) teams were interested in signing him.
Boston previously announced the signing of an agreement with the 29-year-old player for a period of six years. On average, his salary per year will be $5 million.
«Several clubs were interested in signing me. In 11 years, I had not heard anything bad about the culture and organization of the Bruins, about their players. In general, it was not difficult. Boston was at the top of my list,» — Zadorov is quoted by the club's official website.
Zadorov left the Vancouver Canucks, to whom he transferred in November 2023, and became a free agent. He played 54 regular season games for the Canucks and scored 14 points (5 goals + 9 assists). He also earned 8 points (4+4) in 13 playoff games. Previously, the defenseman played in the NHL for the Buffalo Sabers, Colorado Avalanche and Chicago Blackhawks. In total, he scored 146 points (47+99) in 642 regular season matches. As a member of the Russian national team, Zadorov became the bronze medalist of the 2014 youth world championship and the 2019 adult world championship.
