VLADIVOSTOK, July 4The defense of the American soldier Gordon Black, convicted in Vladivostok for threatening to kill and theft, filed an appeal against the verdict, said Elena Oleneva, press secretary of the Primorsky Regional Court.
«On the morning of July 4, the reception room of the Pervomaisky District Court of Vladivostok received an appeal from Gordon Black's lawyer , in which the defense asks the verdict of the Pervomaisky District Court of Vladivostok dated June 19 against Black, who was found guilty, to be canceled and the criminal case transferred for a new trial,” Oleneva said.
The court sentenced Black to three years and nine months in a general regime colony in the case of threatening to kill his girlfriend in Vladivostok and stealing 10 thousand rubles from her. The prosecutor asked that the defendant be sentenced to four years and eight months in a penal colony. The defense asked to acquit him of all charges. Black himself stated that he fully supported the defense’s position and refused to give the final word.
The American soldier Black, who came to Vladivostok in April to visit a girl after meeting her in Korea, during a quarrel, according to prosecutors, “forcefully grabbed the girl by the neck, which she perceived as a real threat to her life,” then stole 10 thousand rubles from her wallet.
Black, according to NBC News, served as part of the American contingent in South Korea and went to Russia on my own initiative.
