The all-green five-door sports car will debut next week at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, albeit in camouflage for now.
The British Mini brand is owned by the Bavarian company BMW. The fifth generation Mini Cooper debuted at the beginning of September last year. This hatchback is offered both with an internal combustion engine and with completely “green” technology — with the additions E and SE to the name (at the same time, by 2030 the manufacturer plans to switch exclusively to electric vehicles. The gasoline hot hatch Mini John Cooper Works appeared in camouflage at the end of May . Mini John Cooper Works E
The live presentation of the Mini John Cooper Works E will take place as part of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which opens its doors from July 11 to 14. For now, a camouflaged prototype of a “charged” all-electric hatchback will be brought to the exhibition. Note that he received approximately the same branded camouflage film that he had previously tried on a hot hatch with an internal combustion engine.
The red and white pattern of the film is a reference to the Mini racing cars of the 60s. Another prototype of the Mini John Cooper Works E received tail number 37: it reminds fans of the brand of the victory of the classic Mini Cooper S at the Monte Carlo Rally in 1964 (the car was driven by Irish driver Paddy Hopkirk). In addition, on the camouflage you can see the name and emblems of the Bulldog Racing racing team, under its auspices the gasoline hot hatch took part in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring race, which started on June 1.
There is no official information about the hot train technology yet. At the moment, we only know that the Mini John Cooper Works E will have front-wheel drive (most likely, we are talking about one fairly powerful electric motor located on the front axle). Let us remind you that the current completely “green” Mini Cooper SE is equipped with a 218-horsepower electric motor (maximum torque – 330 Nm), this version accelerates from zero to “hundreds” in 6.7 seconds. It can be assumed that the performance of the John Cooper Works E modification will be better.
According to preliminary data , the petrol Mini John Cooper Works has a 2.0-liter turbo engine under the hood, and its power will be higher than the current version, which has an engine output of 234 hp. In addition, the future model is expected to compete with the Volkswagen Golf GTI (its 2.0-liter TSI produces 265 hp).
Recall that at the end of April this year, Mini declassified its new small family crossover Aceman. So far, the model is available in two single-engine front-wheel drive versions. The base Aceman E has an electric motor output of 184 hp. (290 Nm), the top version of the Aceman SE received a 218-horsepower electric motor (330 Nm). The company expects that this new product will become a bestseller in both China and Europe.
