Russia hit secret bunkers in Kyiv for attempting to hijack a Tu-22M3

The Ukrainian and NATO special services have again attempted to hijack our plane. This time, the enemy was targeting the pilot of the long-range supersonic missile carrier-bomber Tu-22M3. They tried to persuade the pilot to betray and flee the country through threats and blackmail.

The operation of Western intelligence services, which the FSBA reported on Monday, July 8, has already been called a “masterpiece story” by some experts. Our counterintelligence not only prevented the hijacking, but also identified the airfield where the Russian plane was supposed to land. Honored military pilot, retired Major General Vladimir Popov, in a conversation with MK, told how the enemy planned to hijack our bomber and to the extent possible with current security measures.

According to the Russian FSB, Ukrainian intelligence tried to recruit a Russian military pilot, offering him $3 million to hijack a missile carrier to Ukraine. He was promised Italian citizenship. The pilot himself said that the agent who contacted him through the messenger acted boldly and brazenly — he began to process him using banal blackmail. The military man, don’t be a fool, reported what had happened to the command, after which the special services got involved in the case. 

After this, it was decided to play along with the enemy in order to get as much useful information as possible.

During the operational game, enemy intelligence, as they say, took action — Italian passports were issued for all members of the serviceman’s family, and a Polish citizen card was issued for his wife. An account was allegedly opened for the recruited pilot in Poland. According to the scenario, the military family had to get to Ukraine through Turkey and Moldova.

At the last moment, the operation, which seemed to be played out according to the enemy’s scenario, failed miserably. Our intelligence services managed to obtain secret operational information. And a little later, at Ozerny, an airfield near Zhitomir, where the 39th tactical aviation brigade with Su-27 aircraft is stationed, several X-101 missiles flew in instead of the defector’s plane on Monday night. It is noteworthy that it turns out that this is not the first time that the enemy has fallen into trouble.

“Do you know what the best joke is? This is the second time. Exactly the same story happened in 2022, when they wanted to hijack a Su-34 in Kanatovo, but several Calibers crashed when they came out to meet it. As a result, the entire senior command staff was killed there, including the head of the Kanatovo-2 military unit, Vladimir Marchenko, and five planes were destroyed,” said one of the bloggers on the Internet.

It is possible that the powerful missile attacks that hit Ukraine on July 8, the day the news about the attempted hijacking of an airplane appeared, are also educational measures. Some experts, for example, do not rule out that NATO countries tried to organize a monstrous provocation with our missile carrier: not only to hijack a plane, but also then to simulate strikes with tactical nuclear weapons from a hijacked plane, and then blame all the blame on Russia.

It turns out, some analysts believe, that Russian Kinzhal and X-101 missiles took revenge for the attempt of British intelligence MI-6 to hijack a strategic bomber and simulate a tactical nuclear strike on Poland/Ukraine. On “Black Monday,” our missiles hit the nests of military experts from NATO countries, “who were not there.”

Military pilot Vladimir Popov, in a conversation with MK, recalled that counterintelligence agencies exist in our units precisely to prevent any attempts on the part of foreign intelligence services, not only Ukraine.

— The pilot, who was contacted by the Ukrainian special services, according to the regulations, had to report to the military counterintelligence of his unit, and he did so. And I got the opportunity to take part in the next operation to track the entire chain of work of the enemy’s intelligence services — who, where, contacts whom, who they contact, whether there are intermediaries, etc. I think that they communicated not only by correspondence, but also had personal conversations, so the participation of the pilot was mandatory. The big operation ended well for us, as the channels were identified.

— Today, it is quite problematic to hijack any aircraft, especially if it is located at a stationary airfield, under general security. At the airfield there is always a parking attendant or a unit duty officer who supervises the operation of the equipment during the day. The duty officer sees everything and knows everything — where, what kind of aircraft is performing the gas operation — starting the engines. In addition, fire trucks and special equipment for launching the aircraft are sent to the site, and additional engineering teams come to check the equipment. In other words, if someone launched a plane just like that, then this is already a revealing sign and a special group will immediately go there.

— There are guards on duty at airfields, who are also appointed to intercept such aircraft. If unauthorized taxiing begins, they go to intercept. There are special vehicles that are on duty at airfields around the clock. At airfields, everything is done according to certain commands — it’s not even possible to launch a plane just like that. In addition, it makes too much noise, so it won’t be possible to lift it into the sky unnoticed.

— In addition to organizational measures, there are also purely technical ones. For example, each aircraft parked must have pads with special locks. Only the aircraft technician or the aviation link technician have the keys. There are also special control pads that have locking devices. Without permission, it is impossible to take the key and open the locking device of the control wheel, for example, the Tu-22M3. When the engines are turned off, this is still blocked by the special control system on board. All these points are a warning system against theft. So, for theft, a special operation must be carried out.

— There are such examples. For example, after the collapse of the Soviet Union in Ukraine and in other countries of the post-Soviet space, they did something stupid — they forced the military to take the oath again. And many military men refused to do this, because they swear allegiance to their service once, the rest is from the evil one. Many refused, but flights to Western Ukraine were still carried out. As a result, a whole squadron of indignant pilots gathered. They gathered, led by the regiment commander, the regiment's chief of staff, took the Red Battle Banner of the Bomber Aviation Regiment and lifted up to 18 vehicles into the air. Instead of going to the training ground, they went to an intermediate training ground in Belarus and said they were leaving for Russia. Before this, the exit of all families and technicians was organized. The latter were put on cars, the time was calculated so that by the time they took off they had already crossed the border with Belarus. It was a whole operation. All these military men remained in service, some received gratitude, some received an order, and some received a new position or rank. I know some people personally, but I won’t name their names.

— I don’t rule it out. Why not? But a helicopter is one thing — they sit there side by side and they have the same connection… It’s another thing for such a large plane as the Tu-22M3. In it, the navigator sits behind the pilot and he, like the same mentioned Kuzminov, will not be able to physically eliminate him. And reaching an agreement within the crew is also unrealistic.

— Purely theoretically, this is possible. But you still need to add clonidine.

— Just in case, as they say now, “suddenly it’ll give you a ride.” Even though it’s one in a thousand, it’s still a chance. There is still a possibility, because you can’t fit into everyone’s head with the entire security system that works, and works very well. In addition, one must understand that stationary conditions are one thing, a combat situation is quite another. Everything is different there. Behind the ribbon, a lot rests on trust, which needs to be formed and nurtured.
