The premiere of the new product from the French brand is expected to take place in a few months at the Paris Motor Show. The five-door will most likely reach dealers in the first half of 2025.
The French manufacturer presented a development plan for its brands for the next few years at the beginning of 2021. The strategy presented then assumed that the Renault brand would introduce several electric vehicles by the end of 2025. Let us remind you that one of the new products was the Renault 5 hatchback, which debuted in February 2024, and now the company is preparing for the premiere of the Renault 4 cross-hatchback.

Let us remind you that, like the “five”, the name of the future new product is revived: the car, sold in France under the name Renault 4L – Quatrelle, appeared in 1961. At the same time, the model, which lasted on the assembly line until 1994, was very popular: over the past years, over eight million copies have been produced.
A version of the new Renault 4 close to production in 2021 appeared in patent pictures, and in October 2022 the company presented the 4Ever Trophy concept: the developers equipped it with various off-road “chips” — a massive body kit around the perimeter of the body, a roof rack and a shovel attached at the stern.
The development of the project is now in full swing. The prototype of the future electric car of the French brand is undergoing a series of summer tests: spy photographers managed to catch a camouflaged car during tests on public roads in the southern part of Europe. Colleagues from the Spanish publication Motor.es shared the latest pictures with us.
For now, the exterior details of the Renault 4 are impossible to see due to the thick camouflage film. Renault even additionally taped up the headlights and taillights so that their shape and light pattern could not be studied. Judging by the photo, the production version of the model may get roof rails, a shark fin antenna, a spoiler on the upper part of the trunk lid, wheel arch trims, traditional exterior mirrors and regular door handles.
It is expected that the commercial version of Renault 4 will be based on the AmpR Small platform, which is a modernized version of the CMF-B “trolley”. Probably, the new product will borrow some of the technology from the “five”: we are talking about electric motors, the output of which is equal to 122 and 150 hp. According to preliminary data, the “four” will be offered a pair of batteries to choose from – with a capacity of 40 and 52 kWh. The range on a single charge will exceed 400 km (when calculated using the WLTP cycle).
Renault premiere 4 will probably be held next fall as part of the Paris Motor Show. Such a “green” five-door could reach dealers on the European market in the first half of 2025. The prices of the “four” will become known later; we note that the current Renault 5 hatchback on the home market, in France, can be purchased for a minimum of 29,490 euros. The “four” will compete in Europe with the cross-hatchback Citroën ë-C3, which was introduced in October last year.
