ISTANBUL, July 9 The first domestically produced communications satellite launched by Turkey has sent a signal from orbit, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic Abdulkadir Uraloglu reported on the social network X.
The Türksat 6A satellite was launched on the night of Tuesday using a Space X Falcon 9 rocket.
«The first signal from our satellite was received, as planned, at the 67th minute,» Uraloglu wrote.
With this satellite, Turkish telecommunications companies will be able to provide services in India, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Work on the satellite began in 2014, more than 80% of the satellite subsystems and ground stations were produced in Turkey.
Turkey launched its first communications satellite Türksat 1B in 1994.
