YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, July 13Russian developers have created a special collar for cats that will be able to monitor their health by voice, the NTI press service said on the sidelines of Archipelago 2024.
“A team of developers from the Novosibirsk region presented at the Archipelago 2024 design and educational intensive a smart collar that analyzes the condition of cats based on the sounds they make,” the press service said. 
«Our the product is a complex technical solution packaged in a smart collar, inside of which there is a compilation of sensors and a microprocessor. The task is to carry out analysis “on board”, this will make the collar more autonomous, but at the same time small in size, so that it can be worn. comfortable and did not cause discomfort to the cats,” said project leader Sergei Lidzhiev.
“The “smart” filling is ML (machine learning — ed.) algorithms that analyze the vocalizations of cats. If signs of a painful or nervous condition, as well as physical pain, are detected, an alert will be sent to the smartphone with an appropriate recommendation — whether to contact a veterinarian or simply calm the pet,” he noted.
According to the developers, the range of sounds produced by pets is not always audible to the human ear, and therefore special sensors and processing algorithms built into the collar make it possible to recognize the slightest deviations in health at an early stage, long before clinical manifestations. This will help treat some diseases in cats without medication — by adjusting the diet. This is the uniqueness of the product and the main competitive advantage: the analysis of just one physiological parameter allows you to track the cat’s condition.
There are no analogues on the domestic market, and solutions presented abroad monitor the pet’s condition only by photo. At the moment, the team is developing a new version of the collar, which will go into production. The development of a technical solution is carried out by a technology partner: an electronics development company and manufacturer, NTI concluded.
«Archipelago» is an annual design and educational intensive for representatives of technology companies and startups, engineering teams, management teams of regions and universities, representatives of scientific organizations that develop projects in the field of new technologies. In 2024, “Archipelago” will take place in the Sakhalin region from July 8 to July 21. The main venues for the event were the city of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and the Pushisty airfield. One of the key areas of work for Archipelago was the development of civilian scenarios for the use of drones.
