New Audi A7 sedan: first images

Spy photos of the new German sedan, which will replace the A6 model, were recently published on the Internet. Based on these photos we have the opportunity to imagine what it will look like.

As we have already told you many times, Audi has decided to change the naming system for its cars, and now models with electric powertrains will receive even indices, and those with traditional internal combustion engines will receive odd indices. Thus, the well-known A6 in the next generation will receive the name A7, and the previous index will go to the electric model with the e-tron prefix. By the way, we have previously published renderings of the A7 station wagon, and now we have also brought out prototypes of the sedan for road testing.

In general, having an idea of ​​​​the appearance of the future station wagon, it is quite easy to predict the design of the sedan. It will receive the classic proportions of the current A6 sedan, while the body plastic will become smoother and more rounded. A large radiator grille will appear in front, the design of which almost exactly repeats one of the grille options of the updated A3. At the same time, the headlights are original in shape and graphics of LED running lights. One of the interesting points is that the car will retain headlight washers despite the global trend of abandoning them. On the side, you can note the recessed door handles and characteristic protrusions above the wheel arches, as well as the slightly more rounded shape of the rear side windows. The lights, judging by the spy photos, are similar to the station wagon: they are made of a single element with a narrow full-width LED strip, and on top there is a row of short vertical elements.

The new product will be built on the PPC (Premium Platform Combustion) platform, which will also be received by the future A5 and Q5. The sedan will probably receive a wide range of gasoline and diesel engines, and you can also expect many hybrid modifications (both “mild” and rechargeable). It is also expected that the car will become slightly larger than the current model, whose dimensions are 4939x1886x1457 mm.
