MOSCOW, July 11 American entrepreneur Elon Musk denied a media report that he instructed SpaceX employees to develop a plan for a city on Mars, and also that he volunteered to provide his genetic material for populating a future Martian colony.
On Thursday, the New York Times, citing sources close to Musk, internal documents and emails, reported that he had instructed SpaceX employees to develop plans for a city on Mars, including work on dome habitats and spacesuits, and to study options for combating the hostile Martian environment and further populating the planet with people.
«I didn't 'volunteer to donate my sperm'. No one at SpaceX was assigned to work on the Mars city. When people asked for it, I said we needed to focus on getting there first.» — Musk wrote on the social network X.
Earlier, Musk said that he expects to carry out an unmanned flight of the Starship spacecraft to Mars in the next four years. According to him, he would also call the first city on Mars the word «Bar».
