SAMARA, July 19 Investigators have charged natives of the republics of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, as well as a 16-year-old Samara resident, with attempted murder against State Duma deputy Mikhail Matveev, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported in its Telegram channel.
According to investigators, on Thursday evening the accused, while on the street in the Industrial district of Samara, behaved defiantly and grossly violated public order. When a State Duma deputy and his driver tried to stop illegal actions, the accused attacked them, causing bodily harm.
“A 19-year-old native of the republics of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, as well as a 16-year-old local resident, have been charged with the attempted murder of a State Duma deputy and his driver. Currently, the investigator of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Samara Region has sent to the court petitions for the defendant to be given a preventive measure in the form of detention,» the Russian Investigative Committee said in a statement.
In the criminal case, investigators examined the scene of the incident, interrogated the victims, accused and witnesses. Searches were also carried out at the place of residence of the accused and forensic examinations were ordered.
As part of the investigation, a proper legal assessment of the legality of the stay of foreign citizens on Russian territory will also be given, the RF IC noted.
