IRKUTSK, July 21 A high alert regime has been introduced in the western and southern regions of the Angara region due to a possible sharp increase in river levels caused by rains, the governor of the Irkutsk region reports Igor Kobzev in the Telegram channel.
«Due to the worsening weather in the western and southern regions of the region, we are introducing a high alert regime. It will be in effect from July 21 to 24. According to forecasters, heavy rains, hail, and increased north-west winds are expected in the region,» — wrote Kobzev.
He noted that due to rains, a sharp increase in water levels in the rivers Irkut, Kitoy, Belaya, Oka, Iya, as well as in small rivers of the Southern Baikal region, is possible. During the day, the most precipitation fell in the Alar region — up to 54 millimeters. River levels are constantly monitored. Temporary accommodation centers are in readiness. Additional measures are being taken to ensure the uninterrupted operation of social facilities, utilities, heat and power supply systems.
According to the region's State Emergency Service, water rise due to heavy rainfall is possible in the rivers Irkut, Kitoy, Belaya, Oka, Iya.
