ULAN-UDE, July 23 A state of emergency was introduced in the Zakamensky district of Buryatia, where three villages were cut off due to floods, reported by the district administration.
Due to the Tsakirka River overflowing its banks in the Zakamensky district of Buryatia, the villages of Dalakhai, Utata and Sanaga were cut off. The head of the district, Sergei Gonzhitov, reported that restoration work was underway on the highway.
«A state of emergency has been declared. The head of the district is keeping the situation under control,» said a representative of the district administration.
He noted that the water rise continues on sections of the road in Engorboy in the direction of Khuzhir-Dutulur and in Nurt towards the state border with Mongolia.
According to a representative of the administration, sections of the dam were washed away in Sanaga and Zakamensk. The livelihoods of more than 2.2 thousand people have been disrupted; people have a supply of food and essential goods for four days. An operational headquarters has been set up on the spot.
Also, traffic in this direction is blocked on two sections of the regional road Gusinoozersk — Petrovpavlovka — Zakamensk — border with Mongolia due to the overflow of the Dzhida River. In the Dzhida district, the water overflowed at 159-161 kilometers. In Zakamensk — at 293 kilometers. The regional headquarters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations called on drivers to refrain from traveling in this direction.
As specified by the hydrometeorological center of Buryatia, heavy rains, thunderstorms, in places showers and hail are predicted in the republic until Thursday. Due to bad weather, water levels on the rivers of the southern, central, southwestern regions may rise, reaching the floodplain and forming mudflows. On the Tsakirka River near the village of Sanaga, the water level on the floodplain is 44 centimeters, on the Dzhida River near the village of Khamney — 195 centimeters, and on the Irkut near the village of Tunka — 128 centimeters, the department concluded.
