MOSCOW, July 24 A video has appeared on the Internet in which the three-time Olympic champion British rider, suspended for six months, Charlotte Dujardin, non-stop whipping a horse.
On Tuesday, Dujardin withdrew from the Summer Olympics in Paris due to video footage obtained by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI). The contents of the video were not made public at the time, but the informant's lawyer, Stefan Wensing, said it involved cruelty to a horse. Dujardin said the video was taken four years ago and showed her making an «error in judgment» during a training session. The FEI later suspended Dujardin for six months for animal cruelty.
On Wednesday, the controversial video was published on the Good Morning Britain social media page X. It shows Dujardin continuously whipping a horse with a long whip during training in the stables. At this moment, her student is sitting on the horse.
Dujardin is 39 years old. She is a three-time Olympic champion, silver and two-time bronze medalist of the Games, and Commander of the Order of the British Empire. Dujardin is the most decorated British athlete in terms of the number of Olympic medals won. She shares first place in this indicator with cyclist Laura Kenny.
