MOSCOW, July 25 Canadian singer Celine Dion and American singer Lady Gaga will perform at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, The Independent reports.
Earlier, information appeared that both singers were staying at a hotel near the Champs Elysees. As journalist Thierry Moreau reported on the X social network, the duo were rehearsing the song La Vie en Rose by French singer Edith Piaf.
Dion will perform at the opening ceremony on Friday for the first time since 2022. In December, Celine Dion announced on social media that she had a serious neurological disease, due to which she canceled eight summer concerts in 2023 and postponed her spring concerts to 2024. The singer said that because of the disease, she suffers from nervous spasms that prevent her from moving and singing.
Celine Dion is the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest in 1988 (representing Switzerland). In 1997, James Cameron invited her to perform the song My Heart Will Go On, which became the theme for the film Titanic. This composition won an Oscar (1998) and four Grammys (1999).
Lady Gaga (real name Stefani Germanotta) is a six-time Grammy Award winner, an Oscar winner for Best Original Song, and a nominee for Best Actress.
