MOSCOW, July 25 The seller of shawarma, which poisoned guests of a hostel in the north of Moscow, has been arrested, according to the Telegram channel of the capital's prosecutor's office.
«A twenty-four-year-old salesperson at a public catering outlet has been charged under paragraph «a» of part 2 of article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers). The man did not admit his guilt… Taking into account the position of the Babushkinskaya interdistrict prosecutor's office, the accused has been taken into custody,» the statement says.
It is noted that at the hearing, the accused objected to the arrest.
According to the investigation, the man worked at a food service outlet on Klyazminskaya Street, the owner of which has already been placed under house arrest. It is noted that the accused prepared food while working without a medical record. As reported by the prosecutor's office, the man sold shawarma, which included low-quality skewered meat purchased by the enterprise. It is emphasized that pathogenic microorganisms, including salmonella, were found in the meat.
Earlier, the capital's main department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported that the preliminary diagnosis of those who bought products at the food service outlet was salmonellosis. The criminal case is being investigated under Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers). During the interrogation, the accused did not admit guilt. The department clarified that the employees of this establishment worked illegally, without drawing up an employment contract.
The capital's department of Rospotrebnadzor reported that, according to preliminary information, all the victims ate shawarma.
