MOSCOW, July 23On August 8 and 9, the Oleg Tabakov Theater will present the play «Sailor's Tishina» in Sevastopol, which occupies a special place in the theater's repertoire, the institution's press service reported.
«Sailor's Tishina» is a family saga that tells about the relationship between fathers and children: Schwartz Sr. with his son. The action unfolds against the backdrop of the events of the Great Patriotic War and genocide. «Sailor's Tishina» appeared in the repertoire of the Tabakov Studio Theater in 1990.
The lead male role of Abram Schwartz in the play will be performed by People's Artist of Russia, artistic director of the theater Vladimir Mashkov. Mashkov first played this role while still a student of Oleg Tabakov at the Moscow Art Theater School.

"This play was supposed to open the Sovremennik Theatre in 1958, but after the dress rehearsal it was banned. At that time the play seemed quite sharp. Now it doesn't make things any easier for us, on the contrary. I find the phenomenon of this play in the purity, sincerity and fearlessness of human relationships. It is this complexity of understanding and misunderstanding, hostility, love, shame — everything that human relationships are made of. All this is embedded in the sincere and naive play "Sailor's Silence," — said Mashkov.
Residents of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics will also be able to see the play in Sevastopol — they will be special invited guests of the theatre. The shows will be held in the Sevastopol Palace of Culture of Fishermen. The theater's tour in Crimea, already the third in a row, will take place with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives.
