As with the large hatchback with the GT prefix, the debut market for the four-door will be its native China. At the same time, both modifications may also reach Europe.
The Denza brand was initially created by Mercedes (then Daimler) and BYD. The brand did not demonstrate outstanding results, so then the Germans lost interest in it, reducing their share from 50 to 10%. Well, BYD promised to turn Denza into a competitive and electrified «premium». Now the range includes the Denza D9 minivan, Denza N7 and Denza N8 crossovers. Coming soon is the large Denza Z9 GT hatchback, which was first publicly shown in April at the Beijing Auto Show. And in May, a representative of the brand invited his followers on social networks to choose a name for the four-door version of this model — Z9 or Z9L. Well, it turns out that he was not just teasing the public: Denza is indeed preparing a sedan.

Patent images of the four-door model have been disseminated by Chinese specialized media today. But the most interesting thing is that these images “surfaced” earlier – in one of the European patent offices. And there are also images of the Z9 GT hatchback. That is, BYD may well bring the family to Europe. Although its debut market will still be its native China.

The cars differ from each other not only in the design of the rear: the four-door has a slightly different front bumper. The dimensions of the sedan are unknown. The length of the five-door Denza Z9 GT is 5180 or 5195 mm (depending on the modification), the width is 1990 mm, the height is 1480 or 1500 mm. The wheelbase is 3125 mm. The hatchback is available with 20- or 21-inch wheels.

The technology is probably the same for both versions. According to preliminary data, the Denza Z9 will be offered as a hybrid or an electric car. The hybrid version will be equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine and three electric motors (one in the front and two in the back), with a total output of 870 hp. The electric car will also receive a three-motor installation, but the engines will be more powerful: together they will produce 965 hp. The Chinese also write that the hatchback will also have air suspension.
