MOSCOW, July 26 2016 Olympic tennis champion Russian Elena Vesnina showed off her 2024 Summer Olympics uniform on social media.
On Friday, Vesnina posted a photo from Paris on her Instagram page (Meta's activities (Facebook and Instagram social networks) are banned in Russia as extremist), in which the tennis player is pictured in a turquoise and white uniform. Previously, a turquoise flag with the abbreviation AIN in a white circle and the words Individual Neutral Athletes in English and French was approved for neutral athletes.
Vesnina is the 2016 Olympic champion in pairs with Ekaterina Makarova and the silver medalist of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in mixed doubles with Aslan Karatsev. Vesnina has won 18 titles in doubles at the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) tournaments.
The Olympic Games will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11. Fifteen Russians will compete in five sports: seven tennis players, three canoeists, three cyclists, one trampoline jumper and one swimmer. By decision of the IOC, they will compete in the capital of France in a neutral status, without the Russian flag and anthem. In addition, they do not have the right to participate in the athletes' parade, and the awards will not be displayed in the medal table.
