According to preliminary data, the production version of the “green” SUV may debut in the second half of next year.
The British brand Land Rover launched the Range Rover Sport in 2005, and the current third generation debuted in the spring of 2022. The top version with the SV addition was presented at the end of spring last year. In general, this SUV is doing well on the European market: according to Jato Dynamics, it sold 15,596 units in the first half of 2024, which is 47% more than in January-June of the previous year. It is known that in the future the model will have a version with new «stuffing».

Earlier it became known that the Range Rover will have an electric version (the debut is scheduled for this year), and now information has appeared that the Range Rover Sport will also get a “green” modification. Proof of this are the pictures of the prototype, which is currently at the summer testing stage: photo spies caught the SUV on public roads in the southern part of Europe.
Photos of a test mule of the future all-electric Range Rover Sport were shared with us by colleagues from the Spanish publication Motor.es. It is assumed that such a new product will play the role of a more sporty and dynamic alternative to the Range Rover Electric, which is preparing to debut (by the way, it is noted that its prototype accompanied the version with the «surname» Sport during tests).
As Kolesa.ru reported earlier, the «third» Range Rover Sport shared the modular MLA-Flex platform with the flagship fifth-generation Range Rover. Their electric versions will also remain related and, most likely, will share many of their technologies.
According to preliminary data, the SUVs will receive an 800-volt architecture, a traction lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 100 kWh. The range on one charge of the Range Rover Sport will exceed 500 km (based on the WLTP cycle). It is expected that this «electric car» will have all-wheel drive and a dual-motor power plant (one electric motor on each axle). The total output of this system will be known later.
Recall that the current lineup of the SUV includes 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engines of the Ingenium family: diesel D250 (249 hp, 600 Nm), D300 (300 hp, 350 Nm) and D350 (350 hp, 700 Nm); they can operate as part of a mild hybrid system in tandem with a 48-volt add-on and a small buffer battery. And the petrol sixes – P360 (360 hp, 500 Nm) and P400 (400 hp, 550 Nm) – are included in the MHEV systems by default. All options are paired only with an eight-speed ZF automatic.
The current range also includes plug-in hybrids P460e and P550e, both versions are based on a petrol engine, working in conjunction with an electric motor and battery integrated into the automatic transmission. The maximum range when driving on electric power alone is 119 km.
The production version of the «green» Range Rover Sport SUV is expected to debut in the second half of 2025.
