The world premiere of the Kia K4 sedan took place this spring at the New York Auto Show. It was believed that the United States would be the debut market for the new model. However, the first to learn the prices for the model were residents of Mexico: they have just opened the acceptance of applications there. However, there is logic, because it is the Mexican plant that is the main production site for the new «four». From there, the sedan will be delivered to other countries. Well, let us remind you that this four-door will displace from the Kia range the model that is called Forte in North America, in Korea has the K3 index, and in other markets, including Russia, is known as Cerato.

The exterior of the Kia K4 is made in the current corporate style of the brand. A characteristic design feature is the fanged optics. The sedan's own features are the fastback-style silhouette and the rear door handles hidden at the top. In addition, the K4 has a «sporty» GT-Line version with the corresponding decor. The length of the new four-door is 4709 mm versus 4640 mm for the local Kia Forte.

There is a scoreboard installed in the salon. Also announced for the Mexican K4 (depending on the configuration): six airbags, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging for a smartphone and a set of assistants (but the full list has not yet been made public).

The new sedan is offered with two petrol engines to choose from – a naturally aspirated 2.0 (149 hp) and a turbocharged 1.6 T-GDI four-cylinder (193 hp). The first engine is combined with a six-speed manual or a CVT, the second is equipped with a classic eight-speed automatic. Note that the K4 will not have a manual transmission in the US. The drive is always front-wheel drive.

The price of the Kia K4 now varies from 399,900 to 561,900 pesos, which is equivalent to approximately 1.8 million — 2.5 million rubles at the current exchange rate. The Kia Forte sedan is still on sale: it is also available with a naturally aspirated 2.0 and a turbocharged 1.6 engine, but the turbocharged four is more powerful (204 hp), and instead of 8AT it has a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches. For the old Forte in Mexico, they are asking 387,900 — 541,900 pesos (about 175 million — 2.45 million rubles).
Meanwhile, the Kia K4 hatchback will also be released on the North American market later.
