Last week, fresh spy photos of the next restyling of the flagship German crossover were published, in which you can see new details of its appearance.
The largest Mercedes-Benz crossover has been around since 2006. Initially, it was called GL, and during the restyling of the second generation in 2015, it was given its current name — GLS. The third generation of the SUV is currently being produced, its premiere took place in the spring of 2019, and last year the crossover received its first restyling. Now, judging by the repeatedly appeared spy photos, another update of the model is being prepared.

While the test prototypes have camouflaged front and rear parts, new headlights are already visible. The new generation E-class, which debuted last year, was the first of the production models to receive LED elements in the headlights stylized as the company logo, which not everyone appreciated. However, the company clearly considered this solution a good one, because it will be borrowed by the updated S-class and, as we now see, the restyled GLS. Unlike the E-class, there will be three «stars» in each headlight. The front optics on the test samples are not remarkable yet, but we can assume that the new style of running lights in the form of a three-pointed star will also appear here, especially since it will be used on the passenger flagship after restyling.Render of the updated Mercedes-Benz GLS
There is no confirmed information about changes in the technical part yet, but it can be expected that the engine range will remain the same for the most part. Currently, all modifications of the flagship crossover are mild hybrid: a 48-volt starter-generator with an output of 20-22 hp (200-250 Nm) is integrated into the nine-speed automatic, depending on the modification. The GLS is available with two petrol (GLS 450 with a 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine producing 381 hp and GLS 580 with a 517 hp 4.0-litre V8) and two diesel engines (GLS 350 d with a 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine producing 313 hp and GLS 450 d with 367 hp).
