Restyled Kia Sportage: new images

A couple of days ago, fresh spy photos of the updated Korean crossover were published on the Internet, revealing new details of its appearance. We imagined what the new product will look like.

Kia Sportage is the company's first production crossover, its history began in 1993, when the production of the first generation of the model started. By the way, since 2016 and to this day, the SUV has been the best-selling Kia model. Now on the conveyor is the fifth generation of Sportage with the factory index NQ5, which was demonstrated in the summer of 2021. Three years have passed since then, and this is the standard time for preparing a restyling. What will it be like?

The current Sportage has a very original «face» that does not echo other models of the company. Judging by the latest spy photos, the restyled SUV will receive a completely new front end, which will fit into the current style of the brand to a much greater extent. Here, already familiar from many new Kia products (in particular, the recently presented EV3 crossover), large vertical lights with vertical stripes of LEDs, expanding at the bottom. Most likely, LED strips will also be along the edge of the hood — the only detail of the front end that, in all likelihood, will not be affected by the restyling. The crossover will receive a new radiator grille in a more angular style, while its upper part, judging by the photos of test prototypes, will retain a horizontal bar like the current model. At the back, the most interesting change will be the graphics of the lights, which will now be somewhat more complex and angular. The rear bumper will also be updated with a silver decorative insert of a different shape and a different arrangement of reflectors. In addition, the Sportage will receive a new design of four-spoke wheels.

Depending on the market, the current Kia Sportage is offered with naturally aspirated 2.0 MPI and 2.5 GDI gasoline engines, 1.5 T-GDI, 1.6 T-GDI and 2.0 T-GDI turbo engines, as well as 1.6 CRDi and 2.0 CRDi diesel engines. The updated crossover may receive more hybrid versions, which the current model also has: both a “soft” HEV and a plug-in PHEV are available. Depending on the engine, the crossover can be equipped with a 7-speed robot with two clutches, a 6- or 8-speed automatic, the drive can be front or full.

According to preliminary information, the debut of the updated Sportage may take place in early 2025.

Meanwhile, the Korean company is preparing a significant update for another of its models — the K8 business sedan.
