MAKHACHKALA, August 9 Chechen native Ali Demilkhanov, whose search was reported on Friday by the Dagestan Ministry of Internal Affairs, attacked police officers back in 2017 and is still wanted by law enforcement agencies, the department.
On Friday, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan posted a publication on the Telegram channel about the search for a native of the village of Novaya Zhizn in the Shali district of Chechnya, 41-year-old Ali Demilkhanov, who «on the Khasavyurt-Tlokh highway, while trying to check the documents for a VAZ 111730… fired shots from a firearm at officers on duty.» It was reported that «as a result of the shooting, two police officers were hospitalized with gunshot wounds.» However, the date of the crime was not indicated, and the sentence about the hospitalized officers was later deleted.
«The suspect has been on the federal wanted list for previous crimes, as a member of the underground gang, since 2013. His last «sortie» was carried out in Dagestan in mid-September 2017 (we are talking about shooting at police officers during a document check on the Khasavyurt-Tlokh highway). According to information received today, he is hiding in the territory of the Republic of Dagestan and uses a niqab to move around the republic in order to hide his identity,» the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs explained.
The department also called the information about Demilkhanov's liquidation, which was disseminated in the media back in 2016, untrue.
