The Ferrari F355 remixed by Evoluto Automobili is one of a dozen world premieres that will take place in the coming days as part of the Monterey Automobile Week (USA, California), where wealthy car enthusiasts and professional collectors from all over the world will gather.
The Ferrari F355-based restomod is the debut model of the young British company Evoluto Automobili, which wants to make money and fame in the rapidly growing segment of exclusive cars. Evoluto announced itself at the beginning of 2019 — then it planned to make a restomod based on the Ferrari 348, but then Covid and other troubles happened, the project stalled and was defrosted only by the summer of 2024 in an improved and supplemented form. The mid-engine Ferrari F355, which was produced between 1994 and 1999 and is, in fact, a restyled Ferrari 348, has now been chosen as a donor model.
The technical side of the Evoluto Automobili restomod project was commissioned to be developed by the British engineering firm DRVN Automotive, and Ian Callum, former chief designer of Jaguar, and now an automaker and owner of his own design studio Callum, was responsible for the design. Officially, the restomod is called 355 by Evoluto — the developers avoid the word Ferrari so as not to run into a lawsuit for copyright infringement. Nevertheless, Ferrari emblems and nameplates are definitely present on the car, since the real Ferrari F355 is taken as the basis.

The body of the donor Ferrari F355 received a completely new external tail made of carbon fiber, while Ian Callum treated the original image quite carefully, retained its proportions and even left the old-fashioned pop-up headlights. The new skin, coupled with new electrical wiring and other modern components, made it possible to reduce the weight of the sports car from 1350 to 1250 kg. Body torsional rigidity increased by 23%.

The interior has been redesigned more radically than the exterior. The front panel has been visually lightened by compact round air ducts instead of the stock rectangular ones. Three instruments on the center console now seem to float in the air. The door panels and the center tunnel have been redesigned. The stock steering wheel with a massive hub has been replaced with a lighter one with openwork spokes. New lightweight bucket seats with integral headrests have been installed. The upholstery and trim are selected by the customer — there are no restrictions on colors and materials.

The 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V8 in the stock Ferrari F355 produces 380 hp at 8,250 rpm, and in the restomod — 420 hp at 8,500 rpm. For this increase, more than 200 new components were installed in the engine: the valve timing and ignition systems were modernized, the cylinder heads were reprofiled, the cooling system was improved, the control program was rewritten, the new exhaust system is made of titanium. All power is transmitted to the rear wheels through an upgraded 6-speed manual gearbox.
The chassis has also been comprehensively upgraded. The stock brakes have given way to more modern ones from Brembo with perforated discs «all around», 6-piston calipers on the front axle and 4-piston on the rear. Carbon-ceramic brakes are offered as an option. The tires are modern Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S, 235/35 R19 in front and 305/30 R 19 in the rear. The dynamic characteristics of the restomod have not yet been announced.

Evoluto Automobili is only going to make 55 copies of its restomod. The price of each individual copy depends on the specific wishes of the customer and the price of the donor car. In Monterey, the 355 by Evoluto restomod will be presented to the general public for the first time, that is, its world premiere will take place, although a closed showing of this model took place back in July as part of the Goodwood Festival of Speed (UK). Production of the 355 by Evoluto will begin in the first quarter of 2025.
