MOSCOW, August 13 Barcelona captain Sergi Roberto could not hold back his tears at the farewell ceremony for the Spanish football club, Mundo Deportivo reports.
On Sunday, Roberto announced his departure from Barcelona as a free agent. As journalist Fabrizio Romano reported, he has offers from Dutch Ajax and Italian Fiorentina.
Former club players Gerard Pique and Carles Puyol, as well as former Blaugrana coach Xavi, were present at the farewell ceremony.
«I would like to say goodbye on the pitch, but I will always be grateful for your support and the high standards that made me the player I am. I will keep you in my heart. My idols have become my friends,» Roberto said.
Roberto is 32 years old. He is a product of Barcelona, where he spent his entire professional career. He has played 373 official matches and scored 19 goals for his home club. As part of Barcelona, Roberto became a seven-time Spanish champion, won the Spanish Cup six times, the Spanish Super Cup three times, the Champions League twice, and also won the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
