After a long silence, the young British company Naran Automotive has re-emerged and confirmed its intention to launch small-scale production of its debut model, the front-engine Naran Hyper Coupe with a petrol V8 producing around 1,000 hp.
Naran Automotive was founded in 2017 by Zimbabwe-born British businessman Amir Naran. He is now 38 years old, but he is already very rich and his own car company is not only a business, but also the fulfillment of a youthful dream. As a teenager, Naran was involved in motorsports and had a keen interest in car design — he was even offered an internship at Jaguar and BMW studios, but he declined and went into business, namely, business jet rental. His company Vimana Private Jets gained worldwide fame and generous contracts thanks to its cooperation with the Kardashian family.
In 2020, Naran Automotive announced its first model — the Naran Hyper Coupe, based on the current generation BMW M8 F92, although the relationship between the Naran Hyper Coupe and the BMW M8 is not officially advertised. In 2020, the British company promised to start production of the Naran Hyper Coupe in 2022, the declared circulation was 49 units, the price is one million euros.
At the beginning of 2022, the Naran supercar surfaced in the computer game Asphalt 9 for smartphones and tablets, after which the company lay low and did not show itself publicly for a long time. The silence was broken on June 19 of this year: then the company announced that it had brought a prototype of the Naran Hyper Coupe to a supercar rally in the Swiss Alpine resort of Andermatt, and yesterday it announced the participation of the Naran Hyper Coupe at the end of August in the Salon Prive event, which takes place every year in the UK in Blenheim Palace (Oxfordshire). Salon Prive is a kind of alternative to the Monterey Car Week festival (California) currently taking place in the USA, but the rally in Monterrey is more prestigious; at least a dozen world premieres are expected here. Naran Automotive, however, chose to exhibit at Salon Prive rather than at Monterey Car Week.
The latest press releases report that the planned edition of the Naran Hyper Coupe has been reduced to 39 units, and the price has been increased to two million euros. At the same time, the supercar project itself has changed little compared to what we saw in 2020. The exterior design is the same — it was developed by Jovin Wong, who is also the author of the design of the De Tomaso P72 and Apollo Intensa Emozione supercars. The interior of the Naran Hyper Coupe has not yet been declassified, and only in words has it been promised exquisite trim made of leather, carbon fiber, and machined aluminum, meaning it is not yet clear how much of the BMW M8 remains there.

Meanwhile, the Naran Hyper Coupe bears little resemblance to the BMW M8 on the outside: the British car is longer and wider than the German one, in addition, it has a completely custom suspension on double wishbones “in a circle” and a forced S63 engine: the working volume of the Bavarian V8 has been increased from 4.4 to 5.0 liters, the maximum power has grown from 625 hp to about 1000 hp. The 8-speed hydromechanical automatic transmission ZF and the all-wheel drive system with a power take-off clutch on the front axle are the same as those of the BMW M8, even the rear-wheel drive drift mode is preserved. The developed aerodynamic body kit creates up to 1377 kg of downforce. Wear-resistant carbon-ceramic brakes are borrowed from GT3 racing cars. There are no other technical details yet. In 2020, it was reported that the Naran Hyper Coupe would be able to accelerate to 60 mph (96.56 km/h) in 2.3 seconds, and its top speed would exceed 370 km/h.
Frankly speaking, given the current abundance of offers in the luxury segment of the automotive market, the price of 2 million euros for the Naran Hyper Coupe seems not entirely adequate — just to place an order, the British company wants a deposit of 350 thousand euros, while the stock BMW M8 Competition now costs from 183,500 euros in Germany.
