CHELYABINSK, August 14 A court has sentenced a Russian language and literature teacher from Chelyabinsk, accused of molesting a schoolgirl, to 13.5 years in a strict regime penal colony, the press center of the regional prosecutor's office reported.
According to the prosecutor's office, on the evening of August 9, 2023, in the village of Kasargi in the Sosnovsky district, a man forced an eight-year-old girl into his car and took her to a cemetery, where he blindfolded her and abused her. 
«The Sosnovsky District Court today issued a verdict against a resident of Chelyabinsk… The court sentenced the guilty party to 13 years and 6 months of imprisonment in a strict regime penal colony, with the deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to work in children's institutions of the upbringing, education and health care system for a period of 15 years, with restriction of freedom for a period of 1 year and 6 months,» the report says.
The court also awarded compensation for moral damages in favor of the victim in the amount of 2 million rubles, the report specifies.
He was found guilty under paragraph «b» of Part 4 of Article 132 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (other violent acts of a sexual nature against a person under 14 years of age), the prosecutor's office explains.
The accused worked for a long time as a Russian language teacher at a school in Chelyabinsk, fully admitted his guilt, and was held in custody, the prosecutor's office noted earlier.
A source in the region's law enforcement agencies reported that the teacher was detained on August 10, 2023. The website of the educational center in Chelyabinsk, where the man worked, stated that he graduated from the Chelyabinsk State Pedagogical University, has the highest pedagogical category, and has nine years of total work experience, including one year of teaching experience.
