MOSCOW, August 14 Italian referee Daniele Orsato, who previously joined the expert refereeing commission under the President of the Russian Football Union (ERC RFU), has refused to work for the body, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.
Orsato joined the ERC RFU on Tuesday. According to the publication, the specialist has already changed his mind and told the RFU about his refusal. It is noted that the 48-year-old referee is waiting for new job offers.
He worked at the last two European Championships. At the 2022 World Cup, the Italian refereed the semi-final match between the national teams of Argentina and Croatia.
In 2020, Orsato refereed Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich in the Champions League final. That same year, he was named the best referee of the year by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).
