The German company is preparing a new generation of its sports liftback, and recently the first spy photos of the future new product were published on the Internet. What will it look like?
The liftback traces its history back to 2018, when the first and only generation was presented. Formally, the car has five doors, but the company positions it as a 4-Door Coupe (that is, a four-door coupe). It joined the two-seater sports car of the same name, but, unlike the latter, it received a platform from the company's mass-produced models — the E-class and CLS. Last fall, the car underwent a restyling, and now prototypes of the next generation have hit the roads, thanks to which you can get a first idea of its appearance.

The new Mercedes-AMG GT will get a squat, streamlined body inspired by the 2022 Vision GT concept. Here you can see the similarity in proportions due to the slightly forward-shifted cabin and the design of the front end: a large radiator grille (or rather, its imitation) will be located lower and further from the headlights, which will most likely be visually united by an LED bridge. We can assume that the headlights themselves will also be inspired by the concept and will receive graphics in the form of a stylized three-pointed star. The relatively simple shape of the sidewalls and side glazing are the only things that visually unite the future sports car with the current model. At the same time, it will receive the same retractable door handles as some other new products of the company (the new E-Class, for example). The rear end is still the most camouflaged, but it is already clear that it will receive a completely new shape. There is a possibility that its design will be inspired by another concept of the company — Vision EQXX, demonstrated at the beginning of the same 2022.

In addition to the appearance, the new AMG GT will be radically different from the current model in technical terms, because it will be the first fully electric car developed by the Mercedes-AMG division. The name of the platform is already known — AMG.EA (AMG Electric Architecture), but other technical details are still kept secret.

The official premiere of the new product may take place next year.
Recall that a year ago, the second-generation Mercedes-AMG GT coupe with internal combustion engines debuted, and in April of this year, its top hybrid version 63 S E Performance.
