MOSCOW, August 15 The cultural festival «India Day» opens on Thursday on the territory of the Moscow amusement park «Dream Island», the work of the site in the southern landscape park is scheduled for August 15-18.
The official part will begin at 12:00 on Thursday with the raising of the Indian flag. The ceremony's visitors will be personally greeted by the president of the Indian cultural and national center «Sita» Sammy Kotwani. Representatives of Russian regions and about 30 embassies will take part in the opening of the festival, scheduled for 17:00. 
According to Sammy Kotwani, this year's festival is set to welcome over three million visitors, with the venue set to cover around 27 hectares.
The theme for the 2024 festival is family. The large international presence at the opening ceremony will remind everyone of the famous Hindu saying Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — «The whole world is a family.»
«As you know, Indians are very hospitable, we love to treat guests with tea and coffee. As soon as you come to the festival, you will be offered free tea, coffee and sweets so that you can feel the atmosphere. Not only this, but also a large number of songs, a wedding ceremony so that Russian couples can get a chance to get married in Indian style,» said the main organizer of the «India Day» festival, Dasha Kotwani.
She added that the festival will feature a large number of films to watch every day, a fashion show featuring traditional Indian clothing for all ages, and will be demonstrated by Indian families living in Moscow.
The festival organizers promise a rich program in more than 20 thematic zones: dance performances, tasting of Indian cuisine and much more. The event is dedicated to India's Independence Day and the 78th anniversary of Russian-Indian diplomatic relations.
